Experience Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is being showcased on the world stage once again in an upcoming episode of the smash US hit romance reality series The Bachelor, filmed for the first time ever in Australia.

A global audience including millions of Americans will tune in 24 February on US network ABC during prime-time television to watch newest Bachelor, Peter Weber, cross the Atlantic Ocean in his pursuit for love, bringing him to the heart of Australia's favourite playground.

Destination Gold Coast CEO Annaliese Battista said The Bachelor US series showcases Australia's favourite playground to the lucrative North American market.

“We are delighted the Gold Coast will be showcased on The Bachelor US,” Ms Battista said.

“The publicity leveraged from the episode will increase awareness of the Gold Coast as a must-visit destination for high-spending American travellers considering Australia for their next holiday.

“Viewers are sophisticated and love to travel, which opens up the Gold Coast to a new market of would be US travellers, who will now have the Coast on their travel radar.”

Ms Battista said the Gold Coast's diverse blend of thrill-seeking, romantic and relaxing experiences are sought after by families, couples and honeymooners seeking authentic holiday experiences.

“The Gold Coast's iconic coastline stretches across pristine beaches through to breathtaking lush rainforest against a metropolitan backdrop,” she said.

“To make the most of the opportunity to showcase the Gold Coast to millions of prime-time viewers, Destination Gold Coast crafted romance inspired itineraries and social media placements that play into the love affair.”

InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort's General Manager, Matt Rippin, said he was elated the resort was able to participate in the newest Bachelor Peter Weber's journey to love.

“It's an exciting time for the property as we have recently unveiled our stunning guest room and suite refurbishment, transformed our breakfast destination Cove Café and now, we've played a part in the year's most iconic love story,” Mr Rippin said.

The Gold Coast welcomed 65,000 North American visitors for the year ending September 2019 who spent an average 12.5 nights on the Gold Coast exploring the region's extensive offering.

The timely partnership will further capitalise on new flights into Brisbane from San Francisco that commenced on 9 February and from Chicago, which takes-off on 20 April.

The Gold Coast will participate in Episode 9 of The Bachelor, currently celebrating its 24th season, which airs weekly over the two-hour format and continues to be one of the most watched and engaging reality television shows of all time.
