Global Adventure Challenges Launches New Cycle Rides in America, Cuba and Europe to Celebrate Tour De France

Global Adventure Challenges

With cycle fever set to grip Britain yet again as the Tour de France gets underway next month, Global Adventure Challenges has launched three brand new biking tours to celebrate.

Now the nation's third most popular sport, more and more of us are jumping into the saddle in our free time. Those looking to take that passion to the next level can sign up to a brand new cycling challenge for 2017 and raise money for their favourite charity at the same time. These include biking from The Grand Canyon to Las Vegas, cycling from Paris to Geneva after watching the finale of the Tour de France and pedalling around the Caribbean island of Cuba with time for a spot of salsa in Havana!

Global Adventure Challenge's popular Unite and Bike against Cancer series is back with the third event due to take place in October. Cyclists will take to the saddle and ride 540km over five days, from the Native American Navajo Nation in the magnificent Grand Canyon to the renowned Las Vegas strip. Pedalling through high desert, forested plateaus, canon rims, historic towns, the ride also takes in parts of the famous Route 66. This incredible challenge allows cyclists to not only immerse themselves in the Wild West frontier but also experience the contrasting glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip.

Prices start from £2,144 on a self-funding basis, although cyclists are urged to pay a £399 registration fee and raise a minimum of £3,490 for a cancer charity of their choice.   This includes flights from London to Phoenix Arizona, returning from Las Vegas, accommodation, all meals while on the challenge, local cycling guides and a GAC leader from the UK. Departs 7 October 2017.

Also new is Cycle Cuba, a 350km ride where participants spend five days in the saddle on this beautiful Caribbean island. Beginning in Havana, participants will go on an incredible journey riding along shimmering coastlines, past tobacco and sugar cane fields and through thriving farming communities, where for many aspects of Cuban life, time has stood still.

Prices are from£2,349 for those self-funding or riders can opt to pay a £399 registration and pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of £3,900 for any charity they wish. This includes return flights from London to Havana, all accommodation and meals, a local doctor on cycling days and a Global Adventure Challenges leader from the UK. Departs 21 October 2017.

Those looking for something a little closer to home should try the brand new Paris to Geneva cycle. Linking these two classic cities by two wheels, the challenge starts with the opportunity to watch the finale of the Tour de France before setting off! Four days are spent in the saddle as cyclists journey 357 miles through the beautiful French countryside, past medieval towns and across the famous vineyard regions of Burgundy and Champagne. The challenge culminates by crossing the Jura Mountains and tackling the hairpin bends of the Col de la Faucille, a climb featured many times in the Tour de France, before a downhill cycle to finish beside the spectacular Lake Geneva.

Costs start at £1,099 on a self-funding basis or cyclists can pay a £149 registration fee and raise a minimum sponsorship of £1,760 for a charity of their choice.

This includes the Eurostar from London to Paris and a flight back from London to Geneva, a bike transfer service, accommodation and most meals, mechanical and medical support and a GAC event crew. Departs 23 July 2017.

Anyone who wants to strike while the iron is hot and take a challenge sooner or later can pick from the Euro City Cycle, a 280-mile ride through Belgium and Holland (departs 31st August 2016 from £859pp or the 240-mile ride from Milan to Monaco (departs 28th September 2016 from £924pp).
