Glamorous international jet-setters escaped snow and ice and headed for the sunshine, once again descending on Phuket for glittering festive season celebrations hosted by Royal Phuket Marina developer Gulu Lalvani and his family.

The Hong Kong telecoms tycoon celebrated the holidays in grand style with a spectacular 'Tropical Party' attended by over 200 guests including supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, accompanied by her Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladislav Doronin.

Hollywood star Kevin Spacey was another high-profile guest along with former American Idol judge Paula Abdul and modernist painter Damien Hirst.

Fellow Hong Kong business tycoons also attending the bash included 'Mr Lan Kwai Fong' Alan Zeeman with his wife Marisa and daughter Mellisa; Mr & Mrs Richard Ellman, Chairman of the Noble Group, who was just named 'Businessman of the Year' by Forbes magazine; and Mr & Mrs Horst Pudwill, Chairman of Techtronics.

Also returning for celebrations that have become a regular feature on the celebrity calendar for the past three years were Shanghai Tang founder and entrepreneur Sir David Tang with his wife Lucy, and Japanese designer Kenzo. Hosting the festivities with Mr Lalvani were his sons Dino and Zoran, and daughter Divia with her husband Joel Cadbury.
