Two thirds prefer guys in swim shorts
Whilst David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo may be able to pull it off, a survey conducted by the UK's leading travel agent On the Beach has revealed that 98% of British women would prefer their men not to wear snug Speedos during their holiday.
The survey of 1500 British holidaymakers revealed that only 2% of girls would like to see their men sporting Speedos on the beach, with the majority (70%) choosing swim shorts as their preferred option. However, 13% said they would rather see their man wearing the more tight fitting swimming trunks.
Almost three quarters of men (74%) like to see their girl wearing a Bikini, whilst 13% would rather their other half wear a Tankini. Some it would seem would prefer their girl to cover up, with 2% saying they would rather she wore a Kaftan.
The survey also revealed the majority of women (71%) are happy to go with the natural look by not wearing any make-up on the beach. However, more than a quarter (26%) said they use a "little bit" of make-up, with just 3% saying they stick to their usual "make-up routine" for days on the beach.
The survey also revealed a worrying 24% of British girls admit that if they are wearing make-up on the beach, they are less likely to use any sort of sun protection cream.
The majority of guys say they always use sun cream (68%) on holiday, with 13% saying the us a tanning oil. However, 9% of British men admit to never using any form of sun protection during their holiday.
Alistair Daly, Chief Marketing Officer at On the Beach comments:
"We often see pictures of celebrity men wearing tight fitting Speedos on holiday but our survey suggests that girls are not keen on their partners doing the same."
"It is a concern that some people don't wear any form of sun protection. Whilst we all enjoy relaxing on the beach, trying to get that all important tan, everyone should make sure they are using the correct sun protection."
