Specialist operator, Archipelago Choice, has introduced a new seven-night Azores Volcano Tour on the Azorean island of São Miguel, which incorporates three guided tours of the island's most incredible geological wonders, from just £798pp (departs April - October).
Located on a triple junction of tectonic plates, the dramatic geological features make the Azores a particularly impressive geo-trip destination. Included in the package are three full-day guided tours:
- Circumnavigate the Azores' largest volcanic crater on the Sete Cidades tour and view the narrow causeway that splits the Sete Cidades caldera into the archipelago's iconic twin lakes. There is also the opportunity to swim in a hot ocean pool at the end of the tour.
- Guided by a local geologist, the Geotour visits the Agua d' Pau volcano, the hot springs of calderinhas and the island's subterranean lava tunnels.
- On the Furnas tour visitors will take in the impressive Fire Lake and see bubbling mud pools and volcanic cooking holes that are still used to this day. There is also an opportunity for guests to take in the famous waters in the spa town of Furnas.
Accommodation is the Hotel Talisman, located in Ponta Delgada old town centre, with its cobbled streets and traditional architecture.
