Get Out And About Around London This Easter

Visit London

Is Easter usually spent sitting in front of the TV, watching old movie re-runs and eating too much chocolate? Why not get out there and experience some of what London has to offer this year? With plenty of Easter activities planned around the capital, from free workshops at the Science Museum to an Easter animal farm at Kew Gardens, there is something for all the family to enjoy.

Watching Collectif Acrobatique de Tangier - Taoub at the Royal Festival Hall will really make you feel guilty for all that chocolate over-indulgence. A circus with a difference, Taoub is a thrilling display of Moroccan street theatre, acrobatics and magical scenes. Acrobats perform stunts that seem to defy gravity and are sure to result in gasps of amazement from the audience. For those who believe that Easter would not be the same without a gastronomic blow-out, Hamleys Caf has come up with the perfect treat for kids. My Chocolate Workshop will take place each morning on April 14, 15 and 17 between 10am-12noon. In addition to dressing and decorating eggs, cutting chocolate and dipping fudge, each child will leave with a chocolate goody bag. For a different kind of workshop, the Science Museum will be hosting 'Top Speed', a craft workshop taking place every Saturday and Sunday from April 1-15 during which kids can make their own model car to take home. Whilst at the Science museum, you should also check out the exhibition, Pixar: 20 Years of Animation, which gives an artistic and technological insight into Pixar studio's hugely successful movies including Toy Story, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo. Alternatively, get back to nature at Kew Gardens , where the Animal Farm will return for the fifth Easter holiday season, offering children the chance to stroke, groom and feed animals, ranging from ducklings and chicks to baby goats. Entrance is free once in the gardens. There are plenty of accommodation packages available over the Easter period. The Sheraton Park Tower for example has an offer that includes accommodation with breakfast and a complimentary upgrade to an executive room, two London bus tour tickets, unlimited movies on demand and two umbrellas to take away in case of a rainy April afternoon. All of this costs 307, including VAT, based on two sharing. Alternatively, a family of four can enjoy a three night stay at the Kings Cross Premier Travel Inn over the Easter break for 225 for a family room for three nights (75 per room per night). Rooms sleep up to two adults and two children (aged 15 and under), meaning it costs less than 19 per person per night. So, there is no excuse to be staying at home this Easter holiday, instead make sure you get out there and enjoy all London has to offer.
