get lost travel magazine reminds us why we all simply, absolutely, categorically MUST travel again

There's a familiar buzz in the air and we like how it feels.

It's a feeling of anticipation mixed with excitement as international travel shows signs of returning.

Some of our favourite destinations are flinging open their borders to vaccinated travellers and Australians are eagerly hanging onto every thread of news about travel bubbles with New Zealand, the South Pacific, Israel, Singapore… actually, anywhere really.

Needless to say, the entire team at get lost travel magazine have this week checked the expiry dates on our passports.

That's because we believe that taking a trip to experience the wonders the world has to offer is not just something we can do or should do, it's something we all absolutely need to do.

We've long believed that travel can change us. Some of us travel to be inspired, to fall in love, to learn something new or simply to recharge our mental batteries. Others travel to test their taste buds or push themselves right to the limit.

That necessity and desire to hit the road is what underpins our latest issue. We're not just taking our readers to all the far-flung lands that we're all so desperate to visit, instead we've pulled together the 48 reasons why we all simply, absolutely, categorically must travel again.

“We've been helping our readers travel differently for more than 16-years,” says the magazine's publisher, Justin Jamieson. “But when we stopped to really think about all the reasons why we choose to travel, it became clear that travel is a non-negotiable.”

“There are so many incredible experiences out there that can change who we are and how we look at the world, whether that's testing out Asia's highest bungee in Japan, driving a Royal Enfield through the Himalayas or tasting an organic-wine in a hidden bar in Georgia. Travel is just so bloody important to our lives.”

Elsewhere in the issue, we brave the Southern Ocean on a small Tasmanian yacht, are reminded of our past by looking into the dark South Australian skies, wrestle crocodiles for our dinner in the Solomon Islands and fill our cups in the mellow Kiwi surf town of Raglan.

There's plenty more, too, including a quirky confession about the time one of our contributors inadvertently became an international money smuggler in Africa.

Issue 67 of get lost travel magazine is on sale now, including online from Apple Newsstand and Amazon.
