get lost Takes on the World (Wide Web)

get lost magazine

What do hot springs in Antarctica, a treehouse in busy Bangkok and a volcano safari in PNG have in common? They're all bite-sized travel highlights now live on getlostmagazine.com. The new travel inspiration platform offers digital adventurers hundreds of tips and long-form articles detailing out-there experiences from around the globe.

Launched by Australia's leading independent travel magazine, get lost, the site showcases the juiciest stories from the publication's past 52 issues in print, as well as content crafted for web by their favourite travel experts. And it's all served up with get lost's usual punchy (and often cheeky) take on travel.

get lost is all about exciting stories, incredible photography and, most importantly, travel inspiration,” says get lost publisher Justin Jamieson. “Creating a space that takes advantage of the power of digital storytelling just makes sense.”

“People still love picking up a hardcopy of the mag and we're not trying to replace that. The idea behind getlostmagazine.com is to allow them to take that experience to the next level.”

“Scrolling through the site is the perfect way to spark an idea for your next adventure.”

Readers have a range of options when it comes to navigating through getlostmagazine.com (we all travel differently, after all). As well as using a classic text search function, users can select a country of interest by clicking through an alphabet display. But the real winner is the custom-built map, which pinpoints the 500+ highlights on the site – from great eateries and hidden bars to unique stays and wild adventures.

Travellers love it. Readership continues to rise since the site enjoyed its soft launch in October last year, with the number of visitors to getlostmagzine.com increasing by an average of 66% each month.

Although it's just six months old, getlostmagazine.com even made the shortlist for Best Website at the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Summit.

Stage two of the site will launch in the coming months with a user-generated rewards program.
