New year, new travel plans. We're not big on resolutions in the get lost office, except for this one: travel more often and discover more places. That was our inspiration for issue 51's special feature, highlighting six of the most awe-inspiring journeys you could possibly ever imagine. Don't worry, each of them is accessible, although you'll definitely need a sense of adventure.
From a hot scoop on a new experience deep in Canada's Arctic Circle to a completely different way to explore one of Africa's more remote countries, these are adventures you will remember for a lifetime. Whether you're a jungle bunny or an island hopper, we've got plans you won't be able to resist.
“There's nothing more annoying that looking at a magazine's 'best of' list and finding it's full of places or experiences that have been in a whole lot of other publications,” says get lost publisher Justin Jamieson. “At get lost, we always try to find a unique take on a destination or get to places before our competitors do, but this time we've really outdone ourselves.
“I guarantee when you open the pages you'll think, 'I had no idea you could do that.' The destinations themselves are quite spectacular, but the adventures our writers have found and been on are quite extraordinary.”
Need more destination inspiration for the new year? There's the country where two continents collide; Iceland is so hot right now, and we go for a road trip through its north. Patagonia covers a vast tract of Argentina, and we travel from its Atlantic shore to the Andes. Plus, we go glamping in Morocco's Saharan dunes, slow the pace down in Thailand's idyllic Trang Islands, and head to South Australia where we meet some of the gentle creatures living off the shores of Whyalla.
We've also asked a local about her tips for Mexico City, partied the night away at a Memphis musical festival and explored the scene on Paris's right bank.
And we have the greatest subscription prize going around with flights to experience the Northern Lights in Lapland on a 15 day adventure for two people.
You'll find all this and more in the new issue of get lost magazine. On sale from this week at newsagents and online from Apple Newsstand and Amazon.
