get lost Celebrates its Tenth Birthday

get lost magazine

It's been quite the ride, but with its 40th issue, Australia's favourite travel magazine, get lost, celebrates its tenth anniversary. Over the past decade our writers and editors have journeyed to and across every continent, through 172 countries and even into space, providing endless inspiration for our readers.

“Eleven years ago I went looking for an independent voice in the type of travel I was obsessed with,” explains founder and publisher Justin Jamieson. “I was a backpacker who'd grown up and made some money, but was still thirsty for adventure and great travel experiences. The only difference was I could now afford it. I wanted something to inspire me to experience more of what the world has to offer regardless of cost or star ratings. Frustrated by the lack of independent content I launched get lost magazine.”

These days, there are plenty of fancy terms for industry trends – flashpacking, experiential travel, glamping, barefoot luxury – and travellers are searching farther and wider than ever before to satisfy their curiosity about the world. Some things, however, don't change and in issue 40 – and for the coming 10 years – get lost will continue to deliver travel tales and intriguing travel experiences that will have readers racking up their frequent-flier miles.

For this very special bumper issue, we've uncovered 10 of the world's greatest parties, from a fireworks festival in Taiwan where you risk going up in flames to a raucous Serbian brass blowout. There are also stories on the ancient frankincense route in Oman, tracking pandas through Chinese wilderness, visiting Indonesia's little-known Rote Island, an after-hours guide to Galway and a trip to the deep south (Antarctica, that is).

You'll find all this and more in the new anniversary issue of get lost magazine.

On sale 3 April from newsagents nationally and online through Apple Newsstand and Amazon.
