Get Involved in the Fight for Gender Equality With GVI's New Women's Empowerment Programme

GVI

With the world's eyes turned more than ever to the focus of gender inequality, female empowerment is a fiercely argued subject. Global Vision International (GVI) is set to tackle this current topic, with the introduction of its new Women's Empowerment Programme. Volunteers eager to participate in this movement can head to fascinating locations including Nepal and a number of beautiful places across Africa and Asia, joining like-minded individuals and working on targeted projects to help combat this polemic issue.

Why Volunteer For Women's Empowerment?

Women's empowerment is an issue that touches the lives of all females in one way or another. Women make up two-thirds of the world's illiterate population, with far too few receiving the education necessary to help combat starvation, disease and unemployment. While sure to be a rewarding experience for volunteers, GVI's female empowerment programme will more importantly have a substantial impact on the lives of women across the world. Through receiving a better education, women will have the chance to gain greater social and economic independence, reduce child marriages and invest in the future of women's health in developing countries.

Why Volunteer With GVI?

The GVI programme focuses on a number of troubled regions deeply affected by a lack of women's rights and significant gender discrimination. One such of these is Nepal, where the female literacy rate is just 44.5% and one in every 24 Nepali women dies during pregnancy or childbirth. Through education and workshops, GVI's women's empowerment programme aims to tackle these problems, raise awareness and give local women a chance for a better life. GVI strongly believes that by investing in the future of women in developing countries across the world, programmes such as these will help solve the major social problems affecting millions of women today.

GVI is a highly regarded, award-winning social enterprise, working to create positive impacts across the globe. GVI takes pride in the longevity of its work; only taking on projects that need to be done, that will have tangible, long-term benefits. GVI's work with internationally renowned partners, including Save The Children and Red Cross among others, has contributed to its noteworthy results, with its social programmes actively increasing literacy and education across the world. This latest social project is no exception.

Project Life

Known as the 'Jewel of the Himalayas', Nepal is a fascinating destination for the curious volunteer. Participants of the programme will be based in the idyllic town of Pokhara and staying with local families; a wonderful way to integrate into the day-to-day lives of the locals. Working Monday to Friday, volunteers will take part in a number of vital projects on the women's empowerment programme, teaching girls at the local school one day and helping out in community health workshops the next. Other locations across Africa and Asia will offer equally fascinating cultural insights, with volunteers exploring the endless depths of their new settings.

Free Time

Not only will volunteers be working for a highly worthy cause, the women's empowerment programme will also give participants an authentic insight into the local culture and customs of their temporary homes. With highly trained teams on the ground ready to give insider advice, volunteers can rest assured that they are in good hands, however they choose to explore.
