Get Into The Sleep Habit At Stanbrook Abbey

AmaZing Venues

On 1st March 2015, Stanbrook Abbey will open the main building for overnight stays with the introduction of 52 luxury bedrooms.

The multi-million refurbishment has taken 2 years and has included knocking the tiny nun cells into larger bedrooms, installing central heating and plumbing throughout the new suites. All traces of the previous inhabitants have not been lost as there are design touches throughout, which tip the wimple at the building's former use. Prices for an overnight stay including breakfast start from £135 per room.

For an even more luxurious visit, guests can stay in the cardinal suite, the largest suite in the abbey, which has a king size bed, chez long, private lounge area and a balcony with views over the surrounding grounds.

The abbey boasts four elegant dining rooms, perfect for a more intimate dining experience, as well as two spectacular banqueting halls which are ideal for large feasts. The head chef; Sean Byrne serves culinary delights including his famous 24 hour slow cooked beef, and the full abbey dining experience is available from £45 per person.

New to the menu this year is the Mousey cheese board, named after artist and carpenter Mousey Thompson who engraved a mouse into each of his wood carvings, will be an alternative dessert of local cheeses from the Cotswolds served with homemade chutneys on a locally carved board.

For a lighter bite, afternoon tea will start from £25 per person, which includes a selection of finger sandwiches, fruit scones with lashings of clotted cream and jam and homemade marshmallows with dipping chocolate. Guests can wash it all down with loose leaf teas or freshly brewed coffee, and top off their experience with a tour of the abbey.

“We are very excited to now offer our guests overnight accommodation in the historic abbey building at Stanbrook Abbey. The opening of the luxury bedrooms marks an important point in the development of the property and gives more guests the chance to experience the magic and heritage of the venue”, says AmaZing Venues founder and chairman Mike Clare.

Built in 1625, the abbey is nestled in 21 acres of Worcestershire countryside, offering the perfect place for weddings and corporate events to those looking for a location with a difference. The venue's 400 years of history is completed with a Bell Tower, private lake and orchard.
