Local delights abound in Western Australia, with a seemingly endless supply of world-class wineries, boutique breweries, fresh seafood and premium wines and beverages.
With a landscape and climate as varied as WA, it's not surprising that you'll find such a range of produce available – from Albany oysters and Manjimup black truffles to Exmouth's fresh king prawns and Pemberton's marron. Then there's also hundreds of premium wine, beer, cider and whisky producers dotted throughout the State.
In Perth, visitors are spoilt for choice, with more restaurants per capita than any other capital city in Australia, many of which have been awarded for their commitment to food excellence. The city is currently enjoying a 'dining boom' with new small bars, cafes and restaurants opening up in the CBD and its cultural hubs of Northbridge, Mount Lawley, Leederville and Fremantle. Some of the new venues include Wildflower, Post, Long Chim and Petition (all situated at Cathedral Square in Perth), Odyssea Beach Café (City Beach), Reveley (Perth), Strange Company (Fremantle) and The Shorehouse (Swanbourne).

Only 25 minutes from Perth is WA's oldest wine growing region, the Swan Valley. Visitors can lunch at one of 70 restaurants and cafes, or pack a picnic and take their pick from many natural locations – but be sure to leave room for some gourmet local delights, including olives, cheeses, preserves, chocolate, nougat and ice cream.
