German Grant for Journalism 2013

National Press Club of Australia

Awarded by the Federal Republic of Germany

The German Embassy invites you to design a media project with a focus on Germany for the opportunity to win the "German Grant for Journalism 2013".

This grant has been offered annually by the German Embassy Canberra and the National Press Club of Australia for over 25 years. The aim is to provide Australian journalists with the chance to explore issues relevant to Germany and present them to Australian audiences.

The competition is open for all Australian journalists and media representatives.

This year's motto is: Germany in Asia

Interested journalists should submit a comprehensive, well developed outline of your journalistic project to the National Press Club of Australia. Factors such as the detail of the project outline, originality and contextuality of the basic subject matter and the prospects of successful completion and publication will be taken into account.

Three hard copies of the application including attachments are required, along with a brief CV and a description of your professional career. Furthermore, a letter from your editor is needed to confirm that your project will be supported and published. Please indicate how and where you intend to publish or broadcast your project.

The winner will be selected by an assessment panel consisting of representatives of the National Press Club and the Embassy, and is offered a 10 days research trip to Germany, funded and supported by the German Government.

Travel expenses to and from Australia (Business-Class), as well as all costs of travel, accommodation, meals and interpreter/guide services within Germany will be covered for up to 10 days. A program will be organised in accordance with the submitted entry.

Furthermore, the winner is free to extend the trip to other European countries, or to EU institutions in Brussels on his or her own expense.

Please submit your application to the National Press Club of Australia by May 10, 2013. Send to 16 National Circuit Barton ACT 2600 or email coordinator@npc.org.au.

The organisers encourage all journalists and media representatives to participate in this year's special competition and to pass on the information to colleagues.
