The manager of the German national football side, Joachim Löw, swapped his boots for golf shoes when he visited Golf Son Gual, in Mallorca, for a photoshoot and press conference.

The plush Mallorcan venue was chosen for its elegance and stunning vistas and of course the desirable climate.

The photoshoot was for the travel giant TUI, a German magazine and a credit card company, but the presence of one of world footballs most instantly recognisable coaches went largely unnoticed by those using the Thomas Himmel-designed course or sipping an ice-cold drink on the terrace, for they are used to moving in exalted company.

World number one tennis star Rafael Nadal often visits for golf coaching, while one of his predecessors at the top of the tennis tree, German superstar Boris Becker, has also been known to pop in for a round.

British celebrities including Goldenballs star Jasper Carrott and former England footballer Jamie Redknapp can often be spotted playing 18 holes during a visit to the island, as the courses reputation spreads further.

Son Guals managing director, Andreas Pamer, said: We were delighted Golf Son Gual was chosen for this photoshoot and we believe we may see more camera crews in the coming months as we have been contacted by other agencies.
