Drive the Antebellum Trail Capitals, columns & culture, Georgia�s Antebellum Trail Old South Tour is a fly-drive choice. It starts 70 miles from Georgia's capital city Atlanta, in Athens and heads 100 miles south through seven character towns and cities to Macon including, Watkinsville, Madison, Eatonton, Milledgeville, and Old Clinton. The luck of the Irish! Savannah has been celebrating St Patrick's Day since 1813. It is home to the second largest St Patrick�s parade in the US, drawing party people from around the world with numerous Irish themed events arranged throughout the day. It is expected that over 400,000 people will visit Savannah for the 186th annual St Patrick's Day Parade. Planned are activities on River Street on the 16th and 17th with entertainment, food, drinks, contests as well as over 70 restaurants and shops in the Savannah Historic District, commencing with a celebration of Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The three-hour parade will step off at 10:15 am. International Music Scene Immediately following St Patrick�s Day, and renowned for its music heritage, the State offers sounds for an international and modern day audience with its Savannah Music Festival which takes place March 18 - April 3rd. It is Georgia's largest musical arts festival and one of the most distinctive cross-genre music festivals in the world, presenting unique and imaginative productions and rare regional appearances by renowned artists in jazz, classical, blues, bluegrass, gospel and other styles of American and international roots music.
