Rising tennis star Liam Broady will join other leading members of Great Britain's elite men's squad who will gather at Spain's five-star La Manga Club resort for a warm-weather training break this month as he attempts to take the next step on the road to sporting stardom.

Broady has enjoyed a momentous 2014, leaping up 281 places in the rankings to number 189 in the world – the first time he has broken into the top 200 – and he will team up with other members of the elite squad for two weeks' intense training in Murcia at the Lawn Tennis Association's (LTA) overseas training base.

The Stockport-born left-hander and world number 229 Ed Corrie are using the training camp to finalise their preparations for next month's Australian Open tour, with the likes of Alex Ward and Josh Milton joining them to be put through their paces by an expert coaching team led by Great Britain Davis Cup captain Leon Smith.

Smith, who is the LTA's head of men's tennis, said: “The two weeks at La Manga Club will enable us to spend some quality time together within a high quality, performance training environment.

“Training camps like these in an ideal climate are invaluable. We will be able to prepare Liam and Ed for the Australian Open tour early next month and also work on developing the games of the other players with intense training and match play situations so that they can be ready to make a strong start to 2015.”

The warm weather camp is the latest elite training break that that La Manga Club has hosted as part of its burgeoning relationship with the LTA, who will use the resort as its overseas training base until 2016.

Featuring a tennis academy including 20 clay courts, four hard courts and four on artificial grass, La Manga Club boasts some of the best facilities in Europe and British stars past and present including 2013 Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, Laura Robson and Tim Henman have all used the resort to train over the last decade.

And tennis lovers keen to improve their own games can do so at the multi-award winning venue this winter with a range of eye-catching packages on offer.
