Gaya Island Resort in Malaysian Borneo announces its new Tailored Trails of Borneo programme, a collection of four unique tours which allow guests to experience the rich tapestry of nature, culture and history of the destination. Tours include; The Real Kinabalu, The Countryside Discovery, A Cultural Journey and The Lost World.
The Real Kinabalu tour provides an excursion into the countryside, going on a Dusun village walkabout then culminating with a nature trail at the Botanical Gardens at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu. Alternatively, The Countryside Discovery offers exploration on two-wheels, an idyllic ten-kilometre bicycle ride taking guests over multiple adrenalin-building bridges suspended over rivers and into the very heart of a village home where local coffee and doughnuts, cooked over a wood-fire, await to be snacked on.
Culture buffs will love A Cultural Journey, which includes a visit to the local tamu, the local markets, to sample fresh local produce, then exploration of the intricate Fook Tet Kung temple and a church built in 1885. The popular Monsopiad Cultural Village is the final stop, where the history of the headhunters unfurls.
For an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime trip, The Lost World fits the bill. A helicopter flies guests to the secret enclaves of the million-year old Maliau Basin, one of the world's greatest reserves of biodiversity, where less than 50 percent of the terrain has been explored. Guests are given the opportunity to explore the rainforest with a licensed guide, observing rare and indigenous flora and fauna, before taking a dip into the cascading waterfalls of the Maliau Basin.
Gaya Island Resort is located on Pulau Gaya just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia and its 120-villas are all 'Distinctively Borneo'. With the aquamarine waters of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and the million-year-old forests and mangroves that surround the resort, the opportunity to escape is right on guest's doorsteps.
Gaya Island Resort is offering a Distinctively Borneo experience which encompasses one of the exclusive Tailored Trail of Borneo programmes - The Real Kinabalu. The package starts at AUD$391 per room per night, single or double sharing and require a minimum of four nights' stay, inclusive of return scheduled speedboat transfers from Sutera Harbour Marina, daily breakfasts for each night of stay, the Real Kinabalu Trail from Tailored Trails of Borneo, the Gaya Snorkelling Exploration and the Guided Nature walk.
