Indonesia's flag carrier ranks ahead of Singapore Airlines in the long-haul airline food category
Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia's national carrier, has won the 2012 Long-Haul Asia Pacific Airline Food Award by Skyscanner, the leading global travel search site.
A panel of over 200 international travellers and bloggers from Asia Pacific including Australia and New Zealand rated the quality of onboard meals of 23 airlines across the region. The survey compared taste, presentation and choice of in-flight meals in which Garuda Indonesia scored ahead in the long haul and second in the short-haul airline food categories.
Bagus Y. Siregar, Vice President for Garuda Indonesia Australia/SWP commented: "We're very honoured to receive this award, as it reflects our on-going efforts to deliver the highest standards for our passengers. When travelling long-haul, there is nothing more important than having a quality dining experience including a tasty meal. It just makes your flight this little bit more enjoyable."
The Skyscanner Airline Food Award follows a number recent accolades and recognises the success of Garuda Indonesia's progress towards becoming one of Asia's most successful carries. Recent landmarks include the revitalisation of its existing fleet, the introduction of new in-flight product and service concept called the 'Garuda Indonesia Experience'.
The 'Garuda Indonesia Experience' touches on the five human senses: seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling and tasting. Passengers travelling with Garuda Indonesia will be able to enjoy delicious in-flight meals prepared by award winnings chef such as William Wongso and warm Indonesian hospitality - reflected in the service, on-board décor and staff.
Garuda Indonesia will continue to invest in enhancing its service offerings in order to become a five star carrier by 2015.
