Indonesia's national airline, Garuda Indonesia, was voted '2012 Domestic Airline of the Year' in the Customer Satisfaction Awards conducted in Indonesia by Roy Morgan, Australian-based independent international research institute.
The award was presented to Garuda Indonesia President and CEO, Emirsyah Satar by Roy Morgan's Regional Director, Asia, Debnath Guharoy and its International President, Ira Soekirman in Jakarta.
The '2012 Domestic Airline of the Year' award was based on a survey conducted by Roy Morgan of 28,000 consumers in Indonesia, evaluating products and services used or consumed in the past year, including services by national airlines.
Last year, Roy Morgan also awarded Garuda Indonesia with 'The Best International Airline' award topping Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Emirates and Cathay Pacific, for airlines flying to Australia.
The Roy Morgan award recognises the success of Garuda Indonesia's ongoing transformation programme, and its progress towards becoming one of Asia's most successful and profitable airlines.
"Our turnaround over the past few years has played an integral part and forms the foundation for our continuous improvements in service, training and overall quality. This award endorses our ongoing efforts to transform the airline and to deliver the highest standards of service to our passengers both on the ground and in the air," said Nicodemus Lampe, Vice President, Area Asia, Garuda Indonesia.
The airline's ongoing commitment to carrying out its business transformation and achieving significant improvements has earned it a number of accolades in 2012. In July 2012, Garuda Indonesia was recognised as 'The World's Best Regional Airline' as well as 'The Best Regional Airline in Asia' by SkyTrax, the industry's most prestigious recognition of excellence. Most recently, Skyscanner Asia Pacific Awards named Garuda Indonesia the Best Longhaul Airline Catering.
