Indonesia's national airline is awarded The World's Best Economy Class by Skytrax

Flying high after its success at the International Paris Air Show 2013, Garuda Indonesia is celebrating two prestigious award wins. Garuda Indonesia was awarded The World's Best Economy Class and The World's Best Economy Class Seats by Skytrax, a London-based global airline review and ranking consultancy.

Targeting more than 200 leading airlines, the awards are presented to winners following a global customer satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax, in which 18 million passengers from 100 different countries participated.

The Paris Air Show runs from 17 to 23 June and is attended by the aviation industry's prominent figures to showcase the newest technological innovations in aerospace.  This year's show was hosted at the Hall de la Cocarde, Air & Space Museum in Paris, and has attracted notable players from all areas of aviation.

The latest in a succession of recent accolades being awarded to the airline, the two awards from Skytrax showcase the results of Garuda Indonesia's recent Quantum Leap programme, which aims to position Indonesia's national air carrier as a leading five-star airline by 2015.

The awards were presented to Garuda Indonesia CEO, Emirsyah Satar, by Skytrax CEO, Edward Plaisted. "The outcome of these awards marks the achievement and commitment of all Garuda Indonesia staff to deliver the highest standard of customer service at all times. It's wonderful to be globally recognised for this effort, and it has served as an impetus for us to continue to develop and improve our services further," says Emirsyah Satar.

Later this year Garuda Indonesia will unveil its new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft that will provide the first and only non-stop route from London Gatwick to Jakarta. Operating five days a week, this new route has been created to service the growing corporate travel market between the UK and Indonesia.
