The Festival of Lights comes alive at the Gardens with splashes of vibrant colours, fabric lanterns and festive promotions!
SINGAPORE, 14 October 2013 - From today to 10 November, Gardens by the Bay will see the Flower Dome transformed into a colourful floral tapestry as we celebrate Deepavali - the Festival of Lights!
Inspired by the traditional Indian decorative art kolam, the Deepavali themed floral display features Indian fabric lanterns sitting on a bed of vivid purple and orange flora, made up of flowers like Amaranths, Cone Flowers and Cockscombs, while lamps and carved wooden elephants add to the festive ambience.
This kaleidoscopic display of tradition, colours and lights will bring a befitting close to the "Celebrations!" series of floral displays at the Gardens.
In celebration of Deepavali, there will also be a 15% discount on admission tickets to the conservatories from 1 to 3 November 2013.
On 26 and 27 October, keep an eye out for Celebrating Cultures: The Kathakali Performance, an array of painted faces, sophisticated hand gestures and elaborate costumes accompanied by a "live" ensemble of percussion music and classical singing.
On 2 and 3 November, go on a journey of discovery at the Gardens with You Light Up My Life, a themed activity to educate about the significance of Deepavali, where visitors can try their hand at decorating little lamps specially for the occasion.

About Gardens by the Bay
An integral part of Singapore's "City in a Garden" vision, Gardens by the Bay spans a total of 101 hectares of prime land at the heart of Singapore's new downtown - Marina Bay. Comprising three waterfront gardens - Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central - Gardens by the Bay will be a showcase of horticulture and garden artistry that will bring the world of plants to Singapore and present Singapore to the World. Bay South, the largest at 54 hectares, officially opened on 29 June 2012.
Gardens by the Bay was started as a project by the National Parks Board. It has since grown to become an independent organisation responsible for developing and managing what will be Asia's foremost garden destination.
To date, the Gardens has received several awards and accolades. In recognition of its efforts in environmental sustainability, it was conferred "World Building of the Year" at the World Architecture Festival 2012, "Green Mark for Parks Platinum Award" by the Building and Construction Authority, and "ABC Water Certification" by Singapore's national water agency PUB. It also received commendation from the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards in 2009 in the Regeneration and Masterplanning category.
