Tourism Australia (TA) and Qantas Airways are working in partnership with Lonely Planet to get Brits talking about the best travel experiences across Australia. The promotion, timed to coincide with GdayUK 2009, will inspire those that havent holidayed in Australia before to turn their dream of going in to a reality.
The Lonely Planet editorial team has selected their favourite nine experiences across the country and it is up to the Lonely Planet community to suggest the tenth at www.lonelyplanet.com/gdayuk. Those that have holidayed in Australia before can recommend the highlights of previous trips, motivating those that havent travelled there before to book to go.
To encourage maximum involvement, the community can vote experiences up and down. The Lonely Planet team will then select one experience, from the top 20 listed in the closing week, to win a two week trip to Sydney and Melbourne including accommodation and flights for two people**.
Users of the microsite will also be able to learn more about the destination through itineraries, vodcasts and images produced by the Lonely Planet team. There will also be information about getting to, and around, Australia with Qantas as well as an online fare finder. The social element of the campaign is through a Twitter feed on the Ask the Author page, where a Lonely Planet expert will answer questions from the community about travelling in Australia.
The site content directs users either to australia.com to find out more, or to book a flight at qantas.com to move users through the purchase cycle.
