Full steam ahead for Captain Train and Renfe

Captain Train customers now benefit from access to the world's second largest high-speed rail network

LONDON 11 July 2016 – Captain Train, acquired by Trainline in March 2016, has announced a new partnership with the Spanish high-speed rail carrier, Renfe, opening its doors to the Spanish rail market for the first time. This move further strengthens Trainline's position as Europe's number one independent rail ticket retailer.

Renfe, Spain's only long distance rail service, serves 1,903 Spanish rail stations and carries some 30.8 million passengers each year. This new addition now allows its customers to visit more than 23,000 destinations in 22 European countries.

Clare Gilmartin, CEO at Trainline said: “Our partnership with Renfe is a continuation of our expansion strategy across Europe, now 37 carriers and counting. We aim to allow people to travel anywhere in Europe in one or two clicks, whilst getting the best price and routes available.”

Captain Train also now offers its services in Spanish, including web and app bookings as well as customer support, alongside the pre-existing English, French, German and Italian.

A journey from Lyon to Malaga can now be booked end to end with Captain Train offering the customer all possible route combinations and allows them to choose the fastest or cheapest option easily.
