Frontiers North Adventures takes the Travellers against Plastic Pledge
All Churchill tours to be plastic water bottle-free
Winnipeg, Manitoba - Frontiers North Adventures is pleased to announce that in 2016 they will be discontinuing the use of single-use plastic water bottles on all of their Churchill adventures.
Globally, 2.7 million tons of plastic water bottles are used each year.
“Plastic single-use water bottles are not a friend to our planet and so, with this in mind, Frontiers North has opted to discontinue the use of single-use plastic bottles on our Tundra Buggies. “ said Tricia Schers, VP, Marketing, Sales & Media. “Our company strives to not only offer amazing wildlife experiences for our guests, but to do so in a sustainable way.”
In place of plastic bottles, Frontiers North is encouraging guests to bring a re-usable water bottle during their tour that can be filled at an onboard water station on the Tundra Buggy. They will also offer re-useable water bottles for sale at their retail store, Fifty-Eight North in Churchill.
March 22 is World Water Day. In celebration, Frontiers North has taken the Travellers Against Plastic Company Pledge. The pledge states:
“I pledge to use my company to promote sustainable travel and will encourage travelers to avoid buying bottled water when they travel. In addition, I will provide our travelers the proper information they need to treat their own drinking water. I also pledge to spread the word to travelers I meet, both at home and abroad.”

World Water Day
World Water Day dates back to the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development where an international observance for water was recommended. The following year on March 22 the United Nations General Assembly held the first annual World Water Day as a day of international observance urging people world-wide to take the opportunity to learn more about water related issues and to be inspired to take action and make a difference.
