From the Wild and Windswept Faroe Islands to Whales and Icebergs in Greenland - Taber Holidays Adds New Summer Itineraries

Scandinavia Only

Wild, windswept and breathtakingly beautiful, the Faroe Islands are on many a travellers' bucket list. The same can be said for Greenland, famous for its spectacular icebergs and humpback whales. Taber Holidays have added two brand new tours to these destinations this summer – ideal for lovers of the great outdoors.

With inspiring landscapes, rich birdlife and very few tourists, the Faroe Islands are paradise to those seeking a truly unspoiled landscape. The captivating silence is broken only by the sound of cascading waterfalls and waves crashing into the cliff face. Taber Holidays offer a new seven-night fly-drive tour, 'The Classic Circle' – the perfect way to explore this unique archipelago made up of 18 different islands. Never more than three miles from the ocean, guests can enjoy the fresh sea air and keep watch for the puffins who come ashore during the summer months to breed.

Prices start from £1,340pp and include flights with Atlantic Airways from Edinburgh to Vágoy, car hire with unlimited mileage, hotel accommodation with breakfast and a private home visit complete with coffee and cake to learn more about the Faroese way of life. Based on two sharing. Departs Mondays and Fridays until 24 September.

Also new for summer 2015, Taber have added 'Greenland's Ice, Whales and Culture' tour. Featuring two of Greenland's contrasting destinations, Ilulissat and Qasigiannguit, the eight-night break highlights the old and new way of life.

Ilulissat is a modern Greenlandic town, with Disko Bay and the magnificent Ilulissat Ice Fjord right on the doorstep. Guests can enjoy an included cruise into Disko Bay to watch the beautiful humpback whales that come to feed on small fish.  The UNESCO World-Heritage-listed Ice Fjord is home to calving glaciers, majestic icebergs and remote, isolated settlements where hunters still live very much according to ancient traditions.

Travelling by boat from Ilulissat harbour, the tour continues to Qasigiannguit where it is possible to gain an insight into Greenland's unique history. Guests can visit the project 'Living Settlement' where volunteers work to bring to life the ancient Thule culture by manufacturing tools, leather clothes and household items. Women's kayaks are put into the water and volunteers wearing Inuit clothing take their visitors on a summer day trip just like a Thule family from the 1700s. The experience enables guests to really embrace their culture and play, work and eat as they did in bygone times.

The tour is priced from £3,595pp which includes return flights from London Heathrow to Copenhagen and from Copenhagen to Ilulissat, transfers, hotel accommodation, a whale safari, guided Arctic hike in Qasigiannguit and visit to the project 'Living Settlement'. Based on two sharing. Departs Wednesdays from 10 June to 12 August 2015.
