Ever wanted to get up close to the towering icebergs in Greenland? How about exploring the remote island of Spitsbergen by snowmobile or watching a concert where the instruments are made entirely out of ice? The Icebergs of Greenland – From £2,680pp –Visiting Greenland is as much an adventure as it is a revelation. 'The Icebergs of Greenland' tour takes guests to the settlement of Ilulissat at the mouth of the 40km long UNESCO-listed Ice Fjord. Famed for its dramatic-looking, enormous icebergs, this unique location is truly a sight to behold. Included is a guided walking tour of Ilulissat where guests will see the Greenlander's chief working companion, the Greenlandic dog. The settlement is home to around 3,500 of them! Guests will also enjoy a visit to the hunters' settlement at Rodebay via dog sled or boat depending on ice conditions. A number of optional excursions are also available including Northern Lights tours by snowmobile and snowshoe and a deluxe flight over the majestic Ilulissat Icefjord. Prices for the six-night tour are from £2,680pp. This includes return flights from London Heathrow to Copenhagen, flights from Copenhagen to Ilulissat, accommodation with breakfast (four nights in Ilulissat and two in Copenhagen pre and post tour) and a welcome and farewell dinner in Ilulissat. Also included is a guided tour of Ilulissat, an excursion to the hunters' settlement at Rodebay with lunch and an excursion to the viewpoint to see the icebergs of Sermermiut. Based on two sharing. Explore Spitsbergen by Snowmobile - From £1,835pp - Located halfway between Norway and the North Pole this inspiring journey to the end of the world by snowmobile passes incredible glacial landscapes where very few have trodden before. The seven-day journey starts with a full day to enjoy the Arctic town of Tromsø, including perhaps, a visit to Polaria, an Arctic themed experience centre, to learn a little about polar exploration. After transferring to Longyearbyen, the main settlement on Spitsbergen, guests can get acquainted with the town with its population of just 2,000. Included here is a full day and half -day snowmobile expedition, with a free day in between where guests can take an optional dog sledding excursion or take a fascinating ice cave tour. Prices for the six-night break are from £1,835pp, which includes flights from London Heathrow to Tromsø and onto Longyearbyen, returning from Longyearbyen via Oslo, accommodation with breakfast and a full and half day snowmobile expedition. Based on two sharing. Departs every Tuesday and Friday from 16 February to 10 May 2016.
Sweden's Arctic Contrasts - From £1,495pp– This wonderful combination of city and coastline really does showcase 'Sweden's Arctic Contrasts'. This brand new short break to Luleå provides plenty of adventure yet also the opportunity for relaxation, peace and tranquility. Guests will spend the first two nights in the town centre with its somewhat surprising cosmopolitan atmosphere. Included on the second night is a fascinating ice concert in the Ice Concert Hall (two igloos joined together). Here musicians will entertain the audience for an hour playing instruments made entirely from ice. Also included is entrance to the spa at the Clarion Hotel Sense where guests can enjoy a Japanese bath, sauna or dip in the pool. The next two evenings are spent at the beautiful Pine Bay Lodge, overlooking the archipelago. Included here is an evening snowshoe walk into the forest with dinner around an open fire and a day-time snowmobile trip to an idyllic fishing village on the outermost archipelago where guests can cast their line into the icy waters to catch their lunch! Transfers between the town and archipelago include a stop at the UNESCO World Heritage listed Gammelstad Church Village, Luleå's old town. Prices for this four-night break are from £1,495pp, based on two sharing. This includes flights from London Heathrow to Luleå via Stockholm, accommodation with breakfast, a ticket for the ice concert, entry to the Clarion Sense Hotel spa, guided snowshoe walk and snowmobile safari. Departs Thursdays from 14 January to 24 March 2016.
Other new tours for the winter include 'Tromsø's Arctic Fjord Retreat' and the 'Voyage Across the Arctic Circle' (both in Norway).
