Can you picture yourself relaxing on a sundeck on top of Scandinavia’s only floating hotel? How about taking an exhilarating dog sledge ride on wheels through the unique and fascinating landscape of Spitsbergen, half way between Norway and the North Pole? If either of these sounds appealing this summer, Taber Holidays has just the tour for you.
The Scandinavia specialist has launched a number of new itineraries across Norway, Sweden and Denmark, from May to October. These include a dual-centre ‘Arctic Wonders’ trip featuring Tromsø and Spitsbergen, ‘The World of Hans Christian Andersen’, a self-guided celebration of the Danish author, and a combined tour of Gothenburg and Bohuslän, including a stay in Sweden’s beautiful floating hotel, Salt and Sill.
WHAT’S NEW:
Norway – Arctic Wonders – From £1,635pp – This brand new tour takes you quite literally to the top of the world. Spend the first three nights in the glorious Arctic capital Tromsø, where you can explore the city and enjoy a great mix of culture and sightseeing, before flying to Spitsbergen, exactly half way between Norway and the North Pole. This unique landscape is well known for its polar bears, walruses, arctic foxes and puffins. Included are boat trips to the Russian mining settlements of Barentsburg and Pyramiden and the Esmark and Nordenskiold Glaciers. For a bit of extra fun, why not try your hand at dogsledding on wheels? The optional excursion with the huskies costs £88pp. Prices for the seven-night trip start from £1,635pp and include all flights from London Heathrow, to Tromsø (via Oslo) and from Tromsø to Longyearbyen and back to London, accommodation with breakfast, and two boat trips in Spitsbergen. Based on two sharing. Departs daily from 29 May to 30 September 2014.
Denmark – The World of Hans Christian Andersen – From £1,036pp – The closest you will get to stepping inside a true fairytale, this new seven-night tour explores the cities of Odense and Copenhagen. Starting in Odense, the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, you will be greeted with a landscape of cobbled stone streets, remote castles and a lavish Gothic cathedral. You will also get the chance to visit a museum dedicated to the popular children’s author. Tivoli Gardens, the second oldest amusement park in the world, awaits in Copenhagen, where several of the rides are themed around Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytales. The capital is also home to the famous Little Mermaid statue, now a firm favourite with visiting tourists. Prices start from £1,036pp and include seven night’s accommodation with breakfast, flights from London Heathrow to Copenhagen and the return rail journey from Copenhagen to Odense. Based on two sharing. Daily departures are from 1 May to 30 September 2014.
Sweden – A Friendly City And A Floating Hotel – From £1,214pp – This brand new seven-night trip combines the beautiful Bohuslän Coast with Sweden’s friendliest city Gothenburg. The country’s first floating hotel, Salt and Sill can be found on the small island of Klädesholmen, connected to the mainland by a road bridge. It overlooks Bohuslän’s outer archipelago and consists of two six-storey houses built on floating pontoons. The top of the hotel is a huge sun deck, the perfect place to relax and unwind. No visit to West Sweden is complete without a couple of days in Gothenburg. Explore the numerous shops, cafes and restaurants and or visit Sweden’s oldest amusement park. Prices start at £1,214pp and include flights from London Heathrow to Gothenburg, car hire for four days, and seven nights accommodation (four at Salt and Sill in Klädesholmen and three in Gothenburg) including breakfast.
