12 – 22 September: Feast of San Gennaro

Attracting more than one million people to its heady streets, the annual Feast of San Gennaro takes place in historic Little Italy, New York, each year celebrating the spirit of the early Italian immigrants and the patron saint of Naples. Revellers can enjoy roadside music and colourful parades, food stands and even a cannelloni-eating contest!

28 September - 14 October: New York Film Festival

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the New York Film Festival is the place to see cutting-edge films before they make it big. Bringing some of the world’s most creative cinema to the city, past filmmakers include Jean-Luc Godard, Pedro Almodóvar and Martin Scorsese. This year’s offering includes Searching For Jason, a portrait of Jason Holliday filmed in 1967 as well as new film Flight from Robert Zemeckis, starring Denzel Washington.
