Free Runners Capture DFDS Experience Onboard Newcastle-Amsterdam Ship

DFDS

On Friday 15 July, world-class freerunners Ryan Doyle and Will Sutton released their latest action film which captured the pair freerunning onboard a DFDS ship.

The pair had the run of a DFDS ship while it was docked at Newcastle and performed a variety of stunts and tricks as they glided through passenger restaurants, accommodation and vast outdoor deck spaces.

Over the weekend, the video has become an online sensation as more than 10,000 people have watched the film, with 3.6k views on YouTube and 9.6k views on Facebook.

Doyle, 2 x world freerunning champion of Red Bull's AOM (Art of Motion), discovered his passion for the sport while learning and competing in Korean Martial Art, where he won his first Gold Medal in 2002 and has since gone on to win numerous freerunning titles around the world.

For his latest stunt, Doyle teamed up with Will Sutton, also 1 x winner of Red Bull's AOM, who placed 3rd in the China Parkour Championships, having now competed in freerunnning for more than ten years.

The pair filmed their DFDS expedition themselves, offering a first person perspective of the space and facilities available onboard, including the high end Blue Riband restaurant, Commodore accommodation and Columbus bar, while also giving viewers the opportunity to see what it takes to be a professional freerunner.

Max Foster, Passenger Director at DFDS commented: “We were thrilled to see that our DFDS ship was the latest setting for the world-class free runners to film their most recent project.

“We think the video gives a fantastic demonstration of the freedom of travel when onboard one of our ferries and the pair have captured some of the standout services DFDS has to offer on its Newcastle-Amsterdam route.

“We are amazed at the response the video has received online in such a short space of time.

“This week will see the official start of the summer, and as schools break up and families head-off on their travels, we hope this project will inspire those who are yet to book their adventure.”
