Travellers looking for a great value winter city break should check-out the Hungarian capital, Budapest, which runs an annual winter promotion giving free hotel nights and free admission into one of the city's popular historic spas, this season extended to run until 5 April 2015.
The Budapest Winter promotion run by Hungarian Tourism offers visitors '4 nights for the price of 3' or '3 nights for the price of 2' at more than 50 of the city's three, four and five star hotels, plus free entry into one of Budapest's traditional baths - the Gellért, Lukás, or Rudas - famous for their curative powers and one of the 'must do' experiences in the city.
There are also discounts on many other attractions including Legenda Danube sightseeing cruises, Giraffe Hop on Hop off bus tours and Aquaworld theme park, when booked in conjunction with the accommodation through the Budapest Winter web site www.budapestwinter.com
Budapest is magical in winter with plenty on offer to keep visitors busy, from spending time wallowing in steaming hot spas to ice skating at the MűjégpályaIce Rink in Budapest's City Park; checking out the stylish shops on Fashion Street, Budapest's equivalent to London's Regent Street or enjoying the many musuems and cultural attractions.
The Budapest Christmas Market runs until 24 December on Vörösmarty Square, and the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts has a 'Rembrant & the Dutch Golden Age' running until 15 February 2015. The exhibition is built around Rembrandt, the greatest master of the period, with 20 of his masterpieces on display.
The exhibition will also showcase over 170 works by some 100 painters, of which 40 originate from the Museum of Fine Arts' rich Dutch collection and 130 paintings will be contributed by private and public collections.
