With the summer sunshine a distant memory and the NHS recently launching its annual flu drive, the onset of coughs and colds has begun.

In order to elevate sniffs and snivels, PH Hotels and Four Pillars Hotels have introduced a mini flu fighting kit which guests can request from the reception at any time during their stay if they start to feel poorly.

The flu fighter contains a fresh orange, which will be cut into segments, offering guests an injection of vitamin C which is well documented to boost the immune system. There is also a sachet of lemon tea and a mini pot of honey so that sore throats can be soothed by using the in-room tea and coffee facilities. With just one call, the flu fighter will be delivered to guest rooms at no extra cost.

In addition to the flu fighter, guests will also be advised of dishes on the hotel's menu which contain superfoods such as garlic, broccoli, blueberries and beetroot.

“With the NHS encouraging those who are at risk of flu to be vaccinated, we realised that we could be assisting guests who might be feeling under the weather by providing a few items to make them feel a little more looked after when they are away from home,” comments Philip Bell, group director of food and beverage at PH Hotels.

The flu fighter will be available for guests until 15 December 2014.
