Fraser Coast Tourism and Events

10 interactive drive Itineraries with interactive mapping to be launched on Visitfrasercoast.com

Fraser Coast Tourism & Events will shortly launch new interactive itineraries on the visitfrasercoast website to encourage visitors to experience more of the region and stay longer.

The itineraries use the Alpaca mapping tool, enabling potential travellers to uncover amazing experiences and places to stay, all prepared in 10 pre-packaged tour routes with all the research done to make a great holiday.

The itineraries highlight the region's great diversity, with world class natural wonders including K'gari-Fraser Island, safe beaches, ready access to the Southern Great Barrier Reef and “go-to” experiences including whale watching, fishing, wreck, and reef diving.

Hinterland drives also focus on the heritage assets of Maryborough, including its art and military trails and the stories from a time when the city was a colonial frontier town and a major immigration port.

The Alpaca mapping tool is interactive, and visitors can amend tour routes to suit their own interests.

Fraser Coast Tourism & Events CEO Martin Simons said the region, three hours north of the Brisbane CBD, had grown in prominence during COVID as people from South-East Queensland went looking for pristine, natural locations to spread out and relax away from large crowds.

The partnership with Alpaca and consultants Sparrowly Group would allow the region to showcase its assets in an easily discoverable format.

“Everybody knows about Hervey Bay's great beaches and the amazing wildness experiences on Fraser Island – the new website itinerary tool shows just how diverse the region is, from its great country pubs, fresh-water fishing and hiking and biking trails to the island and beaches we all know and love,” he said.

“The region is within three to four hour's drive for 70 percent of the State's 5 million population. We want these people to come and discover their back yard at a time when demand for road tripping is at an all-time high.“

Marketing of the project will include an exciting digital and TV content and Influencer plan, including:

• Four content creators / Influences / TV presenters experiencing four of the best itineraries over four days, recording their experiences on social media via video posts and television channels (specialist 4x4 and lifestyle). Each creator will supply FCTE with video assets and images to be used in on going marketing of the products.

• In addition, three Channel 7 Weekender television crew members will also go on the road, recording their experiences in stories that will be broadcast on several channels, with website support.

• All influencers/bloggers/TV presenters will drive audience to visitfrasercoast.com, with $10k of boosted activity.

• The programs and bloggers will put their audiences in the “driver's seat” showcasing just how easy it is to explore one of the most pristine and accessible regions of the State – with the hard work done on where to stay, where to eat and where the hidden holiday gems of one of the most pristine regions of the state are located.

Former Australian cricketer Lee Carseldine will help showcase the itineraries, designed to entice Queenslanders to the Fraser Coast. Carseldine will join a host of other TV presenters and content creators, including Channel 7's Weekender, who will each experience an itinerary and share their experiences of the region with their combined audiences of tens of thousands.

Lee Carseldine will join FCTE when the program is launched to operators and media on Monday 19 July at 12.00pm at the Beach House.
