Thanks to our friends at SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium, we have four new sharks: two Brownbanded Bamboo Sharks and two White-spotted Bamboo Sharks! They are females and approximately 2.5 feet long. We received these actively bred sharks at as part of our "Breed. Rescue. Protect." marine conservation program in efforts to reduce the impact on wild populations.
Fun facts: Native to the Indo-Pacific, Brownbanded Bamboo Sharks are bottom dwellers and are found gliding along inshore coral reefs. Alternating bands of brown lend to excellent camouflage. The average White-spotted Bamboo Shark is between 24-32 inches and the average Brownbanded Bamboo Shark is between 25 and 30 inches.
Come see our new sharks in Stingray Bay, but look carefully! Bamboo sharks love to hide in crevices in the reefs
