Idaho Division of Tourism

The Richard Sabala Foundation, Manchester Ice & Event Centre and Manchester Family announce that Cal Ingraham, Marco Pietroniero and Lee Svangstu along with other former professional and college hockey players have formed the McCall Mountaineers Hockey Team. This elite group of players, who play full-contact, high-speed, intense hockey, will offer McCall and its surrounding communities a very competitive and entertaining hockey team, with potential national notoriety.

The teams first game is scheduled against the Sun Valley Suns at the Manchester Ice & Event Centre in McCall, January 16 and 17. Two additional home games are in the works for March or April, and the team plans to play two home games a month in the 2004/2005-hockey season, starting in November.

We are very excited that such a skilled group of hockey players have chosen McCall as their home, said Rob Lyons, President of the McCall Chamber of Commerce. Having our own hockey team will bring great benefits to McCall and surrounding businesses, while offering residents and guests fun and entertainment.

The team is comprised of a number of former Idaho Steelheads as well as other past professional and college players that reside in the Treasure Valley. The caliber of players that we have been able to attract this far, as well as potentially other skilled players congregating in Idaho, puts us in a very competitive position, with the possibility of winning the National Hockey Championships in Florida this April, said Scott Davis, Managing Player.

Other recognized former Steelhead players to wear a McCall Mountaineer jersey include Matt Oates, Rob Dumas, Troy Edwards, Roy Mitchell, Rob Hartnell, and Scott Davis. Rounding out the roster of players are Warren Moore, John Howell, Dave Ingraham, John Ursillo, Rick Bourbonnaiss, John Hill, Bret Gallagher, and goalie, Mark Liebeck.
