Holiday Lettings have a spacious and stylish one bedroom apartment available to let for the New Year break in Scotlands beautiful capital city. The comfortable sitting room has a designer white stone open gas fire and other luxuries include a DVD player, video and CD unit. The apartment looks out on John Knoxs house and guests here are ideally placed to enjoy all the Hogmanay festivities which will take place in and around the Old Town, as well as to visit the nearby Palace of Holyroodhouse, Castle Rock and Arthurs Seat when the partying is over.
A 7-night stay in the apartment over the Hogmanay period costs 699.
Hogmanay is the name for the Scottish New Year. While debate continues over the origin of the word, the festivals roots can be traced to pagan practices of sun and fire worship in the deep mid-Winter. Hogmanay celebrations are renowned for their exuberance and extravagance and in Edinburgh, in particular, it has become a huge ticketed festival for more than 100,000 people. The party begins on 29th December with a Torchlight Procession through the town centre and continues on the 30th with the Night Afore Festival, a unique blend of ceilidh, Latin carnival and street theatre, which this year will include a world record attempt at the longest Strip the Willow dance ever! On New Years Eve itself, ticketed street parties will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display.
