Bath, 28 April 2015: Alison Howell's Foot Trails is launching the first in a series of guided day-long walks next Thursday, 7 May – a peaceful antidote to the clamour of the General Election.

The first walk, titled 'Journey To The Stones', will centre on Stonehenge, with the small group approaching the ancient site on foot to see it rise out of the chalk downs. Expert guide and local historian David Howell will lead the way through Wiltshire's villages and meadows, telling stories about the surrounding countryside and the mysterious stone circle as he goes. 

The West Country walking-holiday operator will host the new day tours on the first Thursday of every month for groups of a maximum of 10 people. All the guided walks will begin and end at railway stations for a car-free option. In typical Foot Trails style, routes will avoid the crowded national trails to follow local paths and will take place midweek for a quieter, more relaxing experience.

Foot Trails' founder Alison Howell said: “We've introduced these new guided day trips to offer a hassle-free way to enjoy a quick, refreshing countryside fix – part of our quest to give people the chance to get back in touch with the natural environment. The tours will also be a great way to try out our style of walking break before committing to a longer holiday with us.” 

Priced at £75 per person, 'Journey To The Stones' includes return transfers to Salisbury railway station, picnic lunch and refreshments, entrance to Stonehenge and the services of a guide. There is currently availability on 7 May, with more walks planned for 4 June, 2 July, 6 August, 3 September and 1 October.
