Follow The Black Mountain Road - A New Australian Wilderness Experience Tour

P&O Australian Resorts

Those travelling north to explore the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park and the impressive rainforest and sea vistas of Cape Tribulation now have another must do to put on their itinerary the previously restricted Black Mountain Road.

Australian Wilderness Experience has been granted the licence to tour the area and now operates half-day 4WD interpretative tours catering for a maximum of four passengers.

Travelling the restricted Black Mountain Road provides unequalled access to pristine natural bushland and rainforest areas. Personalised tours include commentary on the history and ecology of the rainforest with opportunities to learn about the ferns, fruits and flowers and numerous birds, butterflies and animals native to the region.

The half-day tour includes travel on the Kuranda Skyrail - providing a birds-eye view of the rainforest canopy - and guided walks at Red Peak and Barron Falls Stations.

Kuranda Skyrail via Black Mountain Road tour is AUD$140 per person including National Park and Kuranda Skyrail cable car fees and morning tea.

For more rainforest magic include a few nights at Silky Oaks Lodge on your itinerary. Three-night packages including accommodation in a private Treehouse, tropical breakfast and four course dinner daily is available from AUD$960 per person. This package also includes an Australian Wilderness Experience Daintree River and Cape Tribulation day trip or a Quicksilver Outer Barrier Reef Cruise.
