'Flying Into The Future': Airport Parking And Hotels (APH) Compares Airlines Offering Electronic Boarding Passes

Airport Parking and Hotels

According to a report* recently published by SITA, the world's leading specialist in air transport communications and IT solutions, 90% of airlines will be offering mobile check-in by 2015 - an increase of 50% compared to this year. In order to help mobile-savvy travellers manage their travel arrangements through their phone, Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) has put together a comprehensive guide comparing which airlines currently offer contactless technology to passengers. The table is available in the Know Before You Go section of the website at www.aph.com/electronicpasses.

The research compares the mobile services available across 25 major airlines, including Air France, easyJet, KLM and Virgin Atlantic, highlighting which airlines offer mobile check-in, electronic boarding passes and apps as well as the method to download the details.

Of the 25 airlines researched, only four airlines were found to not allow passengers the option to check-in on their mobiles including Atlantic Airways, BMI, Flybe and Ryanair. However BMI, Flybe and Ryanair do allow customers the option to download their boarding pass to their phone.

Customers should also be aware that some airlines only offer mobile check-in at select airports and on particular routes. For example, British Airways offers mobile check-in on all flights except from London City to New York whereas KLM offers this on all flights operated by the airline.

Atlantic Airways, on the other hand, do not allow passengers to check-in through their mobile or to electronically download their boarding pass. Some airlines also enforce certain restrictions with Air Canada only allowing up to two passengers to check-in online for one booking and Flybe will not allow unaccompanied minors, children and infants to use mobile boarding passes.

Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) is the UK's award winning long stay airport parking operator and booking agency, after winning the Best Airport Parking Company for a fourth year running at the British Travel Awards 2013. This year APH also celebrates its 34th year as a retailer and operator of pre-booked airport parking and travel extras. APH offers parking at all major UK airports as well as airport hotels packaged with parking and airport lounges. APH is also a carbon balanced company and has, through support of the World Land Trust, helped purchase more than 1,000 acres of endangered rainforest.
