Flybe. Begins Flights To Jersey From Southend In Time For Summer

Flybe

Flybe., one of Europes leading low-cost airlines, launches its first weekly flight from London Southend to Jersey on Saturday. This brand new route will also be the first scheduled service out of London Southend Airport for more than a decade. Return fares cost 118 and tickets are now on sale at www.flybe.com.

The addition of the new route to Southend opens up the British seaside resort to the Channel Islands and also enables easy access to London and the rest of the South East due to the train and road network which services one of Essexs largest towns.

The announcement is part of a summer schedule from flybe. that offers a total of 31 new routes nationally. The summer routes will also see new destinations added to regional UK airports including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Norwich and Southampton. This is further testament to flybe.s ongoing commitment to being the backbone of UK travel through the development of its international and domestic route network from the airlines regional bases.

Mike Rutter, Sales and Marketing Director, flybe., commented: There is considerable potential for expansion here at Southend, as we have done at other domestic airports. The future of the airport itself is really exciting with the development of a new terminal and eventually we will be looking to offer overseas travel from Southend.

We are committed to offering a first rate, convenient regional airline service, and the summer timetable shows flybe. responding to consumer demand, offering more options than ever before. By aggressively increasing our operations we are successfully marrying convenient regional travel with great value and choice.

The launch of our first service from Southend demonstrates our continued commitment to offering convenient regional travel with great value and choice, whether for international or domestic travel.

This is great news for Southend Airport and for the people in the area as we approach summer, said director Bruce Campbell. Its a great opportunity for people to fly from their local airport, rather than tackling the motorways to get to Londons other airports.
