Florida Keys to Stage Four Culinary Celebrations in January
- Uncorked: the Key Largo and Islamorada Food & Wine Festival (Jan. 8-17)
- Florida Keys Seafood Festival (Jan. 17-18)
- Key Largo Stone Crab & Seafood Festival (Jan. 24-25)
- Key West Food and Wine Festival (Jan. 28 – Feb. 1)
FLORIDA KEYS — Food and wine enthusiasts can savor sunshine, stellar culinary offerings and superior vintages this month at four Florida Keys celebrations of food and spirits. Events showcase local chefs' culinary flair, indigenous Florida Keys ingredients and premium wines from around the world. In addition, the entire family can enjoy unique food-related adventures.
Uncorked: the Key Largo and Islamorada Food and Wine Festival is set for Thursday, Jan. 8, through Saturday, Jan. 17, and is to feature more than 30 palate-pleasing events. Highlights include a Lobsterfest at Key Largo Fisheries Backyard Café, a Spanish-themed Dine-in-the-Dark experience with celebrity guest Chef Norman Van Aken and the festival's Grand Tasting Finale Saturday, Jan. 17, at Islamorada's Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina. www.floridakeysuncorked.com/.
The 10th annual Florida Keys Seafood Festival is to be staged in Key West's Bayview Park Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 17-18, to celebrate the fresh seafood that has been a highlight of Keys cuisine for nearly two centuries. Offerings include grilled Florida spiny lobster, fried fish, stone crab claws, smoked fish dip, sweet Key West pink shrimp and more — all caught, cooked and served by Keys commercial fishermen and their families. www.fkcfa.org.
January also is to spotlight one of the Keys' favorite gastronomic delights: stone crab claws. The Key Largo Stone Crab & Seafood Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24-25, featuring fresh local seafood, live musical entertainment, cooking demonstrations, contests and kids' activities. The sixth annual Key West Food & Wine Festival is to take place Wednesday through Sunday, Jan. 28 through Feb 1. Scheduled events showcase local chefs' culinary flair and favorite Florida Keys ingredients, as well as a wide range of superior vintages. Highlights include the poolside Mile 0 Grand Tasting at Key West's new Marker Waterfront Resort and “Duval Uncorked” Deconstructed, a tasting stroll on the island's renowned Duval Street.
