Flight Updates Sent To Your Mobile

British Airways (UK)

British Airways has launched a six-month trial of an innovative text message service called Flight Tracker.

The service allows customers to receive the latest information on the status of their flight while on the move.

Customers can simply text track followed by their flight number to a designated number (80747) and they will receive real time flight departure, arrival and disruption information taken directly from the British Airways website ba.com.

The information will be sent to their mobile phone four hours before a scheduled departure, wherever they happen to be in the world. They can also request information on flights days in advance by adding the date after the flight number.

Flight Tracker is available to any customer on a British Airways operated flight with a UK registered mobile phone. The service is not only available to passengers - friends, family members and associates can also take advantage of the service avoiding lengthy waits at the airport.

Karl Brooks, IM innovations consultant, said: We understand how important it is to keep our customers informed about their flight wherever they happen to be.

Flight Tracker is driven directly from British Airways flight information offering the most up to date information while demonstrating our commitment to provide our customers with the very latest technology.

The charges associated to the service compare favourably to the airport costs that may be accrued while waiting for a delayed arrival, such as car parking.

Users will receive on average three text messages and will be charged the standard SMS rate for their mobile plus 25p per message received.

Further information about the service can be found by visiting the website www.ba.com
