Five Fantastic Reasons to holiday in the Mediterranean in Autumn on a Travel One Singles Holiday

1. The children are back at school
Who wants to fight for pool space with splashing children or struggle to read a book in peace? The Med takes on a much more laid-back vibe come the autumn when the schools are back.

Average daily temperatures on Corfu in September teeter around the late-twenties Celsius - perfect for making the most of the island's quaint fishing villages, majestic mountains and crystal-clear seas. The Hotel Paleo Art Nouveau is a 4-star property, handily located within walking distance of a few local bars, restaurants and the local beach. The base for our affordable singles holidays in Cyprus – the 3-star Hotel Kissos - is similarly friendly and relaxed. We have a choice of September dates available for both holidays, with additional October availability for Cyprus holidays.

2. The sea is warmer
We all know that feeling of looking longingly at the sea on a pristine beach, dreaming of taking a dip – and finding it is still rather too chilly for comfort. At the end of the season, the sea has had a chance to warm up, and even the usually nippy Atlantic will be a seasonably warm 21 degrees Celsius.

The Algarve is famed for its superb Atlantic beaches, wonderful climate and ocean-side golf courses. The 5-star Hotel Grande Real Santa Eulalia is the base for our sociable singles holidays here, located in a tranquil setting just over a mile from atmospheric Albufeira. Like most Travel One holidays, Portugal is offered on a half-board basis with a table reserved each evening for our guests to dine together if they so wish. Holiday packages from £869pp, including flights, transfers and single room accommodation.

3. It's easier to see the sights when it isn't so hot
July and August in the Mediterranean can prove to be too hot for anything other than sizzling in the sun and cooling off in the sea or pool. It seems a shame to miss out on the sights, however, so the milder months of September and October are ideal for those who want to soak up some culture and history on holiday.

Dalyan is another great choice for an autumn singles holiday and temperatures start to cool down from September onwards. You will almost certainly have more energy for sightseeing then and, with so much to see and do in area, you will need it! Explore the ruins of ancient Kaunos and take a boat along the Dalyan River to Iztuzu Beach, an unspoilt stretch of sand that's home to endangered Loggerhead turtles. A singles holiday in Dalyan staying at the 3-star Riverside Hotel offers excellent value for money, with half-board packages in October costing from £549pp.

4. Autumn is great for festivals and local colour
As many of the tourists depart at the end of August, the locals return to their lives, and celebrate the change of the seasons. September is a particularly good time to grab a slice of local colour and join in the festivities. From the Paradise Jazz Festival in Paphos to the sailors' festival of Neptune's Maritime Baptism in the charming Slovenian resort of Piran you are sure to find something to suit. The Greeks love a good excuse to dance, and September's feast of Timiou Stavrou on Rhodes is no exception.

5. The end of the season is perfect for partying
The renowned Travel One Autumn Party takes place this October in sunny Andalucia. It's a great way to make new friends, and set yourself up with some warm memories to see you through the winter.
