Get set for some fun in the sun this Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 24 to Monday 26 August 2019) at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park! After almost six weeks of summer holiday activities, we're sure parents will be looking for some free and fun family activities to enjoy this bank holiday weekend, especially as the sun is set to make a return. Make the short journey into Zone 2 and you'll be able to enjoy adventure playgrounds, nature trails and interactive water fountains all in the Park where history was made during the London 2012 Games.
Adventure Playgrounds
With two unique adventure play areas, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a paradise for little adventurers! Rock pools, sand pits, treehouses, slides and swings are waiting to be explored at the Tumbling Bay playground in the north of the Park while in the south there are bright red climbing walls, a giant sand pit and slides to be enjoyed in the Pleasure Gardens.
Walking Trails
Find yourself surrounded by nature without having to leave the city as you explore the Park's 560 acres. Discover secluded gardens, beautiful meadows, bench-lined boulevards and tranquil canal paths on one of the Park's four self-guided walking trails. Download your trail guide in advance from the Park's website to relive your memories of the Games with the interactive London 2012 trail where the sights and sounds of the Games come to life or learn more about the Park's wildlife and nature. Art lovers can discover more about the many pieces of art found around the Park while children can take on secret missions as part of the Explorers Guide to Adventures in the Park trail.
Water Fountains*
Don't miss the hugely popular waterworks fountains opposite London Stadium where 195 jets of water put on a show. With water shooting directly out of the floor, children will enjoy dodging the jets or getting wet. And with the sun set to be shining on us this weekend, this is the perfect place to cool down.
Perfect Picnic Spots
Make the most of the weather and enjoy eating outside with a picnic. Pick a spot among the landscaped gardens or in the wildflower meadows, or sit in the shade created by the iconic sporting venues from London 2012.
Walk in the Footsteps of Champions
The Park has no shortage of landmarks, from the London Aquatics Centre and its wave-like roof to the striking ArcelorMittal Orbit. Perhaps most iconic of all are the Olympic Rings, located in the north of the Park, which are perfectly placed for a family snap! Together with the Paralympic Agitos, these are well worth a look to round off your day and capture the spirit of the Park.
And if you've got a few pennies to spare…
Why not finish your day with a trip to the ArcelorMittal Orbit, London's only viewing platform where you can experience un-interrupted views of the city AND a hair-raising thrill ride, The Slide. Get your blood pumping and your adrenaline jumping the 12 twists, turns and drops of the world's tallest and longest tunnel slide, and enjoy mesmerising skyline views of up to 20 miles across London, from the ArcelorMittal Orbit's two viewing platforms.
*The Waterworks Fountains are switched on between 10am and 5pm each day.

Notes to Editors
Spread across 560 acres of stunning parklands, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is home to beautifully landscaped gardens, historic waterways, famous sporting venues, a vibrant arts and events programme and the ArcelorMittal Orbit visitor attraction.
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park opened in April 2014 following the 18 month transformation programme of the London 2012 Olympic Park. It is now home to six former Olympic and Paralympic venues, the Copper Box Arena, Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Lee Valley VeloPark, London Aquatics Centre and London Stadium where visitors can take part in sport, enjoy watching world class athletes compete or experience concerts or arts and culture events. Visitors can also enjoy a birds-eye view of the Park from the two viewing platforms of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the UK's tallest sculpture, before experiencing an exhilarating ride on The Slide, the world's tallest and longest tunnel slide.
As the new heart of east London, the Park is still transforming and will soon provide future homes, jobs and an unrivalled education and cultural district housing Sadler's Wells, V&A East, UAL's London College of Fashion and UCL East.
The London Legacy Development Corporation promotes and delivers physical, social, economic and environmental regeneration in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the surrounding area by maximising the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The ArcelorMittal Orbit is an interactive piece of art where visitors can enjoy breathtaking views from two observation platforms as well as a hair-raising ride on The Slide, the world's longest and tallest tunnel slide. In 2009, former London Mayor Boris Johnson launched a competition to design a sculpture for the Olympic Park which was won by Sir Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond with a design of a continually looping red steel tower. In 2014 it was announced that Belgian artist Carsten Höller would design a slide to be added to the original sculpture. Construction of both the ArcelorMittal Orbit and The Slide was made possible by Lakshmi Mittal who provided sponsorship and all of the 2000 tonnes of steel used.
- Combined ticket prices for the ArcelorMittal Orbit and The Slide when bought in advance are £16.50 for adults, £10.50 for children, £52 for a family of four and £13.50 for seniors and students.
- To use The Slide you must buy a combined ticket for the ArcelorMittal Orbit and The Slide.
- Tickets for The Slide are issued in 15 minute timeslots and are valid for one use of The Slide. Additional tickets can be purchased for £5 on the day subject to availability.
