Five of the Best for La Manga Club – Spain's Top Golf Resort

La Manga Club

La Manga Club has enjoyed many memorable achievements during its illustrious history and is celebrating another remarkable first after being named as Spain's best golf resort – for an amazing fifth successive year.

A Mecca for golfers worldwide for more than four decades, the famous luxury venue in Murcia, south-east Spain, was once again the overwhelming first choice of readers of leading UK golf magazine Today's Golfer in its annual travel awards.

The accolade is the second top honour that La Manga Club has received in as many months after it was named as 'Spain's Best Golf Hotel' at the 2015 World Golf Awards, and is further recognition for the significant recent investment it has made in its extensive golf and leisure facilities to enhance its position as Spain's flagship resort.

And more improvements are planned over the coming months including the refurbishment of selected apartments in the resort's Las Lomas Village and Bar 37 in the golf clubhouse; redecorating the corridors in the luxury Hotel Principe Felipe; the redesign of a new golf shop and reshaping and installing new signage on the golf courses.

José Asenjo, La Manga Club's general manager, said: “To be voted as the best golfing venue in Spain for five years in a row is a phenomenal achievement and one that everyone at the resort is immensely proud of.

“Golf has played a major part in the success that La Manga Club has enjoyed over the years which has helped establish us among the world's elite sports and leisure destinations.

“It is as popular now as it was when it opened and, with a period of further investment planned, we're looking forward to the resort continuing to thrive and prosper in the years ahead.”

La Manga Club has enjoyed another memorable 12 months which has included a major upgrade of its golf tuition facility, featuring a Leadbetter Golf Academy – the only one in mainland Spain – the appointment of Eduardo Ruiz as the resort's new director of golf and the elevation of its West Course among the top 100 courses in continental Europe.

The official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) until 2019, the sports complex will stage the La Manga Club PGAs of Europe Pro-Am for the third year running next month as well as hosting the 2016 Spanish National Youth Golf Championships and popular 2016 Footballers' Golf Classic in June – with the latter event sold out nine months ahead of taking place.

Set in an area three times the size of Monaco, La Manga Club remains the benchmark for sports and leisure destinations across Europe following a period of sustained investment in its luxury facilities.

Boasting three 18-hole championship golf courses, a nine-hole academy course and outstanding practice facilities, La Manga Club has enjoyed a rich golfing history since its inception in 1972, while its array of other outstanding sports and leisure amenities, bars and restaurants has helped establish it as a firm favourite with visiting golfers.

In addition, the resort offers the ideal place for budding sports stars of the future to hone their skills with a wide selection of academies for boys and girls of all ages including golf, tennis, cricket, rugby, athletics, football and dance, and a range of fun-packed activities in its junior club.

La Manga Club features unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination and, as well as its golf courses, includes a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
