The first whales of the season have been spotted breaching and tail lobbing off Port Stephens this week. Playful humpbacks were seen off One Mile Beach in Port Stephens by Tamboi Queen Cruises skipper Terry Aldrich.

Tamboi Queen Cruises has noticed over the years that the protection efforts of various organisations have helped in the increase of whales travelling along the coastline, with 20,000 whales expected to cruise along the NSW coast this year, with Port Stephens one of the primes pots to see them.

The official start of the whale watch season is June 1 when Tamboi Queen Cruises will offer half price tickets on the 10am whale watch cruises that day aboard two vessels departing from the marina at Nelson Bay. Visit www.tamboiqueencruises.com
