Guernsey has announced the return of outdoor cinema viewings from Wednesday 21st to Tuesday 27th of August on Cobo Bay, one of the island’s most idyllic, sandy bays on the west coast.
Following the success of ‘Midsummer Magic’, which took place each year from 2005 to 2008, Visit Guernsey is delighted to welcome back the outdoor cinema experience to Cobo Bay. In 2008, 6,000 people watched the films and viewings are predicted to be even more popular this year.
This season screenings will feature family favourites such as Madagascar, to cult classics including Jaws and Priscilla Queen of the Desert. There will even be a screening of Les Misérables – a must see since Victor Hugo wrote the book whilst exiled in Guernsey. Viewers can start the evening with a picnic on the beach enjoying the sunset, or with a G & T at the popular Cobo Bay Hotel. As well as a refreshing drink the three star hotel provides a comfortable retreat and is the perfect base for a summer break. Rooms start from £95 per person, per night including breakfast, based on two people sharing. For more information please visit www.cobobayhotel.com
Alternatively, the family run Fauxquets Valley campsite offers a fun treat for families. Situated in the rural interior but only 1.5 miles away from sandy beaches and boasting an outdoor pool and games rooms, stays at Fauxquets Valley are fun for everyone; options include log cabins, pre-erected tents or bring your own tent for the ultimate camping experience. Rates start at £90 per night based on two sharing a log cabin in August and include all on site fees. www.fauxquets.co.uk
