Today 50 talents from W Retreat & Spa Bali - Seminyak joined efforts in giving back to mother nature by reforesting a mangroves forest in Suwung.

According to FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations), the role of mangroves in providing coastal protection against the actions of waves, wind and water currents in general, is well known. As widely reported, extensive areas of mangroves can reduce the loss of life and damage caused by tsunamis by taking the first brunt of the impact and by dissipating the energy of the wave as it passes through the mangrove area. Based on this fact and supported by local mangrove forest management center, W Bali's talents are excited to have today planted 1.000 kendeka trees (Bruguera spp).

"Despite Suwung is located 13 kilometers from W Retreat & Spa Bali Seminyak, this reforesting activity holds an important meaning for us since W Bali is located on the beachfront enclave of Seminyak. Not only for the Retreat but this initiative is also dedicated for all communities within Bali. Accompanied by a live DJ and hip music, this exciting initiative ran for 2 hours, a passionate and fun gathering under the warm glow of the beautiful sun. In the near future, W Bali talents will be back with more exciting projects which not only benefit the talents but are also a meaningful contribution to the Island.
