The festival season has arrived in Catalonia. Light, music, and passion usher in the good weather with traditions that have stayed alive to the present day. Come and join in!
2nd – 6th June – Tast a la Rambla (Barcelona) - Five days to taste authentic and traditional signature cuisine brought to you by restaurants on Barcelona's iconic boulevard. Bon appétit!
2nd – 12th June – Primavera Sound (Barcelona) - The spring festival of the city, is warming up with headliners that no fan will want to miss: Massive Attack, Pavement, Tame Impala, Beck, The Nationals, The Strokes, ... and much more!
7th June – 23rd July – Jardins de Pedralbes Festival (Barcelona) - These gardens filled with fountains and statues will play host to the festival which is now in its tenth outing: James Blunt, Jethro Tull, Patti Smith & Band, Alan Parsons Live Project... Are you going to come along?
10th – 19th June – Barcelona hotels roof terrace week (Barcelona) - Over 65 hotels open their roof terraces and offer free activities for all ages and a rich and varied choice of food. Luxury in the heights!
15th – 19th June – The Patum in Berga (Pyrenees) - Fire, music and symbolic characters take centre stage at this ancient festival that has achieved UNESCO Intangible Heritage status. Feel the magic of a unique tradition!
16th – 18th June – Sónar 2022 (Barcelona) - The world's leading advanced music event kicks off in Barcelona for another year: concerts, DJ sets, screenings, talks and multimedia art. Unmissable!
16th – 19th June – L'ou com balla (Barcelona) - Have you ever seen an egg bobbing up and down on the water jets of the fountains in the city's cloisters, courtyards and gardens? Take advantage of the opportunity!
23rd June – Revetlla de Sant Joan (Catalunya) - Say goodbye to the shortest night of the year at a celebration with music, cava, firecrackers, the special flatbread, coca de Sant Joan, and bonfires... and celebrate the summer solstice!
29th June – 28th July – Barcelona Grec Festival (Barcelona) – Festival of music, dance, circus, and theatre. It's a festival that forms part of the city's cultural landscape and connects fully with its artistic life.
30th June – 2nd July – Vida (Vilanova i la Geltrú, Costa Barcelona) - An intimate festival in a beautiful town to the south of Barcelona with a line-up of established and up-and-coming performers. Highly recommended!
1st – 3rd July – ViJazz (Vilafranca del Penedès, Costa Barcelona) - ViJazz Penedès combines the renowned wines of the Penedès region – known as the wine capital of Catalonia – with acclaimed jazz music. Attendees can enjoy live jazz while trying over 300 types of wine and cava from 40 different Penedès cellars.
7th – 10th July – European Balloon Festival (Igualada, Costa Barcelona) - The European Balloon Festival is the largest balloon festival in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. Visitors can enjoy the spectacle of more than 50 hot air balloons flying and competing in races around the town of Igualada, just 40 miles west of Barcelona.
8th July – 6th August – Festival Castell Peralada (Peralada, Costa Brava) - The mediaeval Castell de Peralada is the setting for the Castell de Peralada Festival. Set in the Castle Park gardens, the Auditorium is the ideal venue for concerts on a summer night. The Church and the Cloister, by contrast, hosts recitals, chamber concerts and small-format operas. History and prestige identify the festival which, both for its artistic events and for the exceptional nature of the setting in which it is staged, places this mediaeval town at the cultural and leisure heart of the summer nights of the Costa Brava.
21st – 24th July – 25th Renaissance Festival (Tortosa, Terres de l'Ebre) - Located on the banks of the River Ebre, the city of Tortosa was an important centre of Catalan Renaissance art which retains a strong Medieval and Renaissance heritage. Among the most striking historic sites is the towering Arab castle of La Suda, now a Parador de Turisme hotel – an ideal base from which to experience the city's living history.
22nd July – 15th August – Cap Roig Festival (Calella de Palafrugell, Costa Brava) – Open-air festival gathering the best musical artists in an outstanding natural scenery in front of the sea in one of the most renowned botanical gardens in the Mediterranean.
19th – 27th August – Festival Som Mar (Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava) - This summer, enjoy live music again at the Som de Mar Festival, which takes place in the Santa Clotilde Gardens in Lloret de Mar.
