Fashion, Food and Fun - Marriott has the Melbourne Cup Trifecta

Marriott International

The Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa will have the Melbourne Cup trifecta - fashion, food and fun, making it a sure bet for anyone looking for a glamorous way to spend Cup Day.

With all the style and sophistication you'd expect to find at Flemington, the Marriott's Grand Ballroom Melbourne Cup Luncheon is renowned as one of the best on the Gold Coast, with some-400 fashionable fillies and stylish stallions gathering to celebrate the race that stops a nation.

Hosted by television presenter Erin Connor and partnering with Gold Coast Magazine and Marina Mirage, the elegant event will include a three course lunch created by Marriott's executive chef Andrew Fraser and complemented by premium  wines from Chandon and Cape Mentelle, artisan beers, juices and soft drinks.

Marina Mirage will showcase the season's latest fashions in a beautiful parade featuring new season designer looks in racewear. See international fashion collections from Christensen Copenhagen, Janine Edwards and MAX&Co. as well as iconic Australian brands George Gross Harry Who and Carla Zampatti.

The excitement will reach boiling point when the main race is streamed live from Melbourne, especially for those who've taken part in the sweepstakes held by Variety - The Children's Charity.

Live entertainment, raffles and prizes for those deemed 'best dressed' will combine to make a truly memorable day - one that event organiser Louise Bradfield says is the best on the social calendar.

"I absolutely love the excitement of Melbourne Cup, and with its glitz and glamour, it's possibly my favourite event of the year," she said.

"The grand ballroom turns into a sea of style and colour as the Gold Coast's best dressed ladies and gents join to
celebrate Australia's biggest day in racing accompanied by fabulous food, fine wine and excellent entertainment.

"The event is a sell-out every year and we expect 2013 to be no different."
